Molik, Jaslyn Hewitt win Fed Cup entry
Australian Fed Cup player Alicia Molik and
Jaslyn Hewitt have been granted the remaining wildcards into the women's main
draw of the adidas International.
Molik has been left without vital match practice before the Australian Open following
Australia's withdrawal on Thursday from the Hopman Cup.
The Australians were forced out when world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt - older brother
of Jaslyn - was diagnosed with chicken pox.
Big-serving Molik is Australia's highest ranked female at world No.47 and reached
the third round of the US Open last year in her most successful on the tour.
She won her first Hopman Cup match against Switzerland's Miroslava Vavrinec before
losing in the second round robin match to Argentinian Paola Suarez.
Jaslyn Hewitt, 18, is ranked 356 and the Sydney tournament is only the third time
she will play in the main draw of a WTA Tour event.
Two main draw wild cards remain for the men's singles, with the other already
awarded to American Andy Roddick.
